How does it work?

Protecting the environment, one tree at a time

Extreme weather conditions, such as wildfires and floods, highlight the necessity to better adapt to climate change. Using innovative technology certified by Treefera, our company allows you to profit from your forest land.

What is carbon offsetting?

Carbon offsetting is the investment in environmental projects that remove a quantity of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, including the protection of forest land, to compensate for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated elsewhere. This process is then awarded carbon credits (or offsets) according to the impact and quality of the project. Organizations then purchase these credits on a carbon market in order to meet a GHG emission limit or target.

Maple Credits Offset Project

MapleCredits uses Treefera's artificial intelligence to determine the amount of CO2 sequestered by a forest. Land registered on our platform is approved by the largest carbon credit markets, where the number of credits associated with a piece of land is determined according to risk.

Our process:

  1. Contacting MapleCredits

  2. Data capture using our innovative technology

  3. Registration on the Treefera platform

  4. Analysis of carbon credit value

  5. Sale of credits on the carbon market

  6. Payment of first royalties to owners

Why register your forests for carbon credits?

Many owners do not exploit all of their forest land. Sometimes, some people are simply not familiar with practices that promote reforestation and effective maintenance. This is why it can be profitable to register them with Maple Credits.

Our platform allows us to highlight the sections of forests that capture or release the most GHGs. Consequently, actions can be put in place to promote or limit these impacts.

For example, if part of the forest is affected by disease, stagnant growth or other problem, the technology used will detect it. We can then act to promote growth or regeneration. All of this results in an increase in the quantity of GHGs captured and ultimately, benefiting from carbon credits thanks to this project.

How much credit is a forest worth?
The number of credits per hectare depends on different factors which will be determined in the in-depth analysis of your land. For example, forest at risk*, such as land located near highways or housing developments, could be worth more credits.

* Forest at risk
Forest that is not protected by official regulations (such as a national park) and whose geographic location represents a risk of logging.

Your engagement

By registering your land with Maple Credits, you commit to conserving your forest for the next 10 years.

In the event that you cut your forest, our artificial intelligence will detect the cut and your financial compensation will be adjusted.
